Kovura

Kovura: The local-first strength training logger and science-based recovery tracker.

Beta is liveGet the beta, freeBeta testers keep Premium free for good

Log your sets and reps in seconds. Kovura turns every set into per-muscle recovery and training load, kept as two separate numbers so one never hides the other. New to lifting? Start from a ready-made plan and Kovura tells you what's ready to train.

Every score computed on your phone. No servers. No accounts.

Readiness and Load, never blended

What your body can do today and how hard you've worked it recently are answered by different engines. Never averaged into one number.

Down to the muscle

16 muscle regions tracked independently, so a sore back doesn't quietly mask tired legs.

Explainable, not a black box

Every score traces back to a formula you can actually read. Built on peer-reviewed sports-science methodology. Not a mystery model.

Private by design

Local-first with optional iCloud sync. No account required, no server ever sees your training data.

How it works

Kovura logging a workout: Pull Day B, a barbell shrug set of 185 lb for 12 reps at RPE 8 checked off, the RPE picker open for the next set, and a rest timer running.

Kovura's daily check-in: feeling Good, 7.75 hours of sleep, and sore quads and lower back tapped on the body map, with all three required answers done.

Kovura reads your signals

Recent training load, HRV (from a watch, or a camera scan in beta), sleep, and soreness reports feed straight into the engines.

Kovura's Home screen: Good morning, readiness Train Light at 64%, today's advice to prioritize core and rest chest, high accuracy, low injury risk, and a front and back body map of today's soreness.

See what's likely safe to push

Readiness estimates what your body can do today. Load estimates how hard you've already worked it. Never the same number.

No watch needed

No watch? Your phone still reads your recovery.

Two quick checks in the daily check-in, with nothing but your iPhone.

Kovura's 60-second camera HRV scan, marked beta: sit still, rest a fingertip over the back camera and flash, and keep still about 70 seconds, with a Start Scan button.

Camera HRV scan

Hold a fingertip over the camera and flash for 60 seconds. Kovura turns each heartbeat into beat-to-beat intervals and works out rMSSD, a standard HRV measure.

It only counts on days without watch HRV, and it's read against your own earlier scans.

Kovura's reaction time check: wait for the screen to flash, tap the instant it does, five rounds, with a large Start button.

CNS reaction test

A quick tap test, about 11 seconds: wait for the screen to flash, then tap. Five scored rounds, and Kovura keeps the median so one slow tap doesn't skew it.

It's a reaction-time check against your own last 14 days, and one input to your Recovery Score.

Muscle by muscle

Every muscle gets its own recovery

The muscle map colors all 16 regions from recovered to very sore, so you can see what's ready to train instead of guessing.

Tap a muscle for how long it usually takes to feel back to normal, a few gentle stretches, and when soreness is worth getting checked.

Kovura's Progress tab: a front and back muscle map colored from recovered green to very sore orange, with a legend for overloaded and not trained.

Widgets & Live Activity

The workout follows you off the app

Home Screen widgets keep today's picture one glance away. While you train, a Live Activity follows the session on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island: the routine, a ticking timer, and how far through you are. Live, without opening the app.
